Stephen Schleipfer is a licensed acupuncturist and Qigong Tuina practitioner. He lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife Mary and two children. He has been running his clinic, Mokuti Acupuncture, since 2008. Stephen teaches Chinese Medicine and Chinese internal arts internationally in both German and English.

Stephen’s Chinese Medicine practice is based on a commitment to engaging with the Chinese concept of Qi, or Chi. Qi is the crux of Chinese Medicine, and an experiential understading of it on the part of the pracittioner is what makes acupuncture effective.

For more than two decades Stephen has been engaged in a deep, daily study of Qi through rigorous internal arts training and study of Chinese medicine. This means training for roughly three to four hours a day, going on several retreats every year and seeking out the best teachers in the world. Stephen has also maintained a very active clinic, typically treating patients all day for six days a week when he is in town.

Stephen grew up in southern Africa with his German parents and sister. During those formative years he gained a deep appreciation for nature as he was thoroughly exposed to African wildlife. At a young age, he studied the martial arts and was a competitive kickboxer in Africa, a path which led him to the healing arts later in life.

Stephen cares deeply about his patients and students and is available by phone to answer questions. Feel free to reach out. We are here for you!

"I have the academic and practical credentials, but what drives me is that I really care about my patients. I want them to regain their health and normal function in a timely fashion, so they can enjoy life to the fullest."
